Three Former NYPD Officers Sentenced In Tow Truck Scheme: Feds
James Davneiro, from Bayside, Giancarlo Osma, and Michael Perri were sentenced to one to three years in prison, federal prosecutors said.

BAYSIDE, QUEENS – Three former NYPD officers were sentenced to prison after taking part in a scheme to direct vehicles damaged in car accidents to a tow trucking business belonging to a former member of the force instead of the NYPD’s official program, federal prosecutors said.
The officers, one from Bayside, were sentenced to more than a year in prison after steering damaged vehicles to the business belonging to Michael Perri, who opened a tow trucking and auto repair shop after retiring from the force in 2020 and bribed the two officers, said the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Breon Peace.
Michael Perri, 34, was sentenced to 33 months in prison on Thursday, while Bayside resident James Davneiro, 44, was sentenced to one year in prison in March, Peace said.

Between May 2020 and May 2021, Davneiro and Osma received thousands of dollars of bribe payments from Perri in exchange for directing vehicles to his tow trucking business instead of using the NYPD’s Directed Accident Response Program, Peace said.
