BAYSIDE, QUEENS — A residential block in Bayside filled with sirens and smoke Saturday night as firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze in a single-family home on 214th Place.

The standalone house located at 36-25 214th Place went up in flames at about 5 p.m., according to the FDNY Twitter account.

Shortly after firefighters started battling the blaze it spread to the top floor of the home, prompting a second alarm at about 5:15 p.m., FDNY tweets show.

Videos uploaded to Citizen show smoke billowing out of house's top window — which, like several others, was entirely shattered — as the street filled with firetrucks and firefighters responding to the blaze.

The blaze was put under control a little over an hour after it broke out, the FDNY posted on Twitter.

Fire officials did not immediately respond to Patch's request for comment as to how many firefighters battled the blaze, but Facebook posts from a Queens fire squad show that at least half-a-dozen firefighters came from Maspeth to help get the fire under control.

The FDNY also didn't specify if anyone was hurt in the blaze, or what the cause of the fire was.
