Wednesday: Painting Class at National Art League, Sign Language at the Library

The National Art League will host its weekly "Exploring Innovative Techniques in Flower and Still Life Painting" course from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The class is taught by Diane Lieberman, who has won numerous awards for her work and received grants from the Queens Council on the Arts. For more information, call 718-969-1128. The gallery is located at 44-21 Douglaston Parkway.
The Douglaston Little Neck Library will host its Sign, Read and Play course at 1:30 p.m. The class, which is aimed at children, will include signing vocabulary mixed with songs, stories and other activities. It will be taught by certified American Sign Language instructor Jackie Ciaramella.
Some stories to keep an eye out for this week will include a profile of City Council candidate Chrissy Voskerichian and a wrap-up of the 111th Precinct's crime statistics for July.
