Week in Review: Oakland Lake Park, Vicious Bulldogs and Little Neck's Soon-to-Open GameStop
A look back at the notable events of the past week.

On Tuesday, northeast Queens leaders cut the ribbon on a $2.5 million upgrade at Oakland Lake Park that includes the restoration of the site’s shoreline and ravines. The project was built in conjunction with a $5 million retention facility at Alley Creek that stores combined storm and waste water that had previously been discharged into Little Neck Bay during heavy rainfall.
Also on Tuesday, a vicious bulldog tied to a zipline outside his owner's home in Bayside took a bite out of a passerby, inspiring the dog's owners to hide it away for fear that it would be destroyed.

U.S. Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-Bayside, has thrown his support behind state Assemblyman David Weprin’s bid for Anthony Weiner’s seat.
A new video game store is slated to open in Little Neck Plaza by the end of summer, workers told Patch on Wednesday. The GameStop will replace the Little Neck Luncheonette, which shuttered in February.

Thursday was Bastille Day, and diners at La Baraka celebrated in style: the Little Neck restaurant paid homage to France's independence, as well as its own 32nd anniversary with an accordion player, a mime, a fashion show and of course, lots of food.
