21 'Affordable' Apartments Up For Grabs On BK's Gates Avenue
The studio, one and two bedroom spots require at least a $61,715 salary, records show.

BROOKLYN, NY — More than 20 apartments on Gates Avenue have hit the affordable housing lottery, but only for those making at least $61,715 per year, records show.
The 21 spots, found at 1510 Gates Ave. in Bushwick, will go to those making around 130 percent of the area median income and are up for grabs until Nov. 30.
For the five studio spots, that means applicants should make at least $61,715 per year and will pay $1,800 per month, records show.

The five one-bedroom spots require a $72,000 minimum salary and cost $2,100 per month.
The two-bedroom units will go to those who make a combined $82,286 salary and cost $2,400 in rent. At least two people need to apply to live in the 11 two-bedrooms.

The Gates Avenue building, found near Irving Avenue, includes garages, bike storage lockers, electric car charging stations, a shared laundry room, a gym, an outdoor terrace and a "dog washing station," according to the listing on the Department of Housing Preservation and Development site.
It is one of several Brooklyn buildings with apartments on the affordable housing lottery, including another on Gates Avenue in Bed-Stuy, a building on Waverly Street and one on Fulton Street.
A building on Church Avenue also just recently joined the lottery.
In that building, there are four one-bedroom spots up for grabs and applicants should make at least $61,000 per year.
