5 Things You Should Know This Week

Tax deadline approaching, 81st Precinct Council Meeting and a beer and oyster "Sip 'n Slurp!"

It's Monday!

Here are five things you should know to help jumpstart you into a productive and informed week.

Tuesday, April 10, at 7:00pm is the monthly meeting of the 81st Precinct  Community Council at 794 Monroe Street. The meeting is open to the public and is an opportunity for the community to share grievances, hear the monthly precinct report and speak face-to-face with the commanding officer.

For those who do not have children in one of New York City Public Schools, remember that this week for the entire week, all public schools are on their spring break. Expect to see a higher than usual number of children out and about this week!

This week is the last week to get your taxes complete before the April 17 deadline. So if you haven't done so yet, take your taxes to one of and get them done ASAP!

Taking the SAT is an important step in the college application process. Come slurp the best and briniest oysters, and wash them down with specially paired brews this Tuesday, April 10 at the Brooklyn Brewery's Beer and Oyster Sip and Slurp, located at 79 N. 11th Street. Garrett Oliver from Brooklyn Brewery and Nellie Wu from W&T Seafood will guide you through each beer and oyster pairing, and give background on the history and geography of each oyster. This is a great opportunity to sample some of the more unusual draft-only offerings from Brooklyn Brewery, and taste a diverse selection of oysters from the East and West Coasts.
