5 Things You Should Know This Week

Bed-Stuy Patch today is providing you a list of key events and activities you should know about to jump-start you into a productive week:

1. Beginning this week, every Tuesday evening starting at 7:30pm, Rustik Tavern will screen a different classic film for your viewing pleasure. Come and enjoy our fabulous cuisine and specialty cocktails, and enjoy the classics we all grew up on, as well as films you’ve never seen before. Dinner, drinks, and a movie - sounds like an all-in-one date night!! Rustik Tavern is located at 471 Dekalb Avenue.

2. This Wednesday, March 28, at 7:30pm, join Therapy Wine Bar for an evening of wine tasting and live music, just in time for spring. Music will be provided by "Phear None" Macpherson, the Funkiest Violin player you'll ever meet! Therapy Wine Bar is located at 364 Lewis Avenue.

3. Bring your gaming skills to the table while meeting your neighbors at Common Grounds for Game Night, Friday, March 30, 7:00pm. Common Grounds is located at 376 Tompkins Avenue.

4. As a part of the kick-off of the 11^th National Black Writers Conference, on Thursday, March 29, at 6:30pm at the Central Public Library, located at 10 Grand Army Plaza, Tai Allen will host Poetry Café, an evening of readings featuring poets Aracelis Girmay (Teeth), R. Dwayne Betts (A Question of Freedom: A Memoir of Learning, Survival and Coming of Age in Prison), Patricia Smith (Blood Dazzler), and emerging and established poets. 

5. Get ready this week for the 13th Annual Central Brooklyn Jazz Festival-Jazz: A Music of the Spirit, beginning March 30 until April 30, 2012. This music series is New York City's longest continuously running grassroots festival dedicated to jazz. More than 500 artists will be performing in 40 events at venues from Coney Island to Williamsburg in Brooklyn. But don’t miss one this week, Friday, March 30, 6:00pm in Bed-Stuy at Sugar Hill Disco and Restaurant, located at 609 Dekalb Avenue.
