8-Year-Old, 3 Others Hurt In Shooting At Bed-Stuy Barbecue: NYPD

The 8-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet Saturday when two shooters opened fire into a crowd at the Stuyvesant Gardens Houses, police said.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — An 8-year-old boy and three others were hurt when two dirt bikers opened fire into a barbecue in Bed-Stuy late Saturday, according to police and reports.

The two men on bikes rode up and began shooting into the crowd at the Stuyvesant Gardens Houses on Quincy Street just before 11:30 p.m., according to police.

A 27-year-old man, a 36-year-old woman and a 46-year-old woman were all hit in the leg by the bullets, which also grazed the 8-year-old's leg, police said. The victims were all taken to the hospital in stable condition, according to police.

There had been no arrests in the shooting as of Monday morning.

The shooting came just hours after another young boy was hurt in Bed-Stuy in a deadly crash on Ralph Avenue.

That 8-year-old boy and his grandmother were walking near Macon Street when they were hit by a driver fleeing police, who also crashed into a cyclist, third pedestrian and a car in the rampage, police said. The grandmother was killed in the crash and the 8-year-old was sent to the hospital in critical condition, police said.

The Quincy Street shooting is also among several from the borough over the weekend.

On Friday, a 43-year-old man was shot dead in Crown Heights and, on Saturday, a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in Brownsville.
