'Affordable' Apartments In Bed-Stuy Require $77K Salary

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A new building in Bed-Stuy has hit the city's affordable housing lottery, but only for those making at least $77,000 a year, records show.

The 288 Willoughby Ave. building, found near Kent Avenue and Taaffe Place, has four one-bedroom units up for grabs, according to the Department of Housing Preservation and Development listing.

The apartments will go to those making at least 130 percent of the area median income, meaning applicants should make at least $77,143 per year. The units will cost $2,250 per month.

The building includes in-unit washers and dryers, dishwashers, air-conditioning, patios or balconies and a rooftop terrace, according to the listing.

It is open for applications until Dec. 21.

The Willoughby Avenue building joins several others in Brooklyn on the housing lottery, including the latest development in Pacific Park in Prospect Heights and the affordable housing complexbuilt on top of the new Sunset Park library.
