Affordable Apartments Up For Grabs In New BK Senior Housing Complex
The 44 studio apartments on Scholes Street will go to seniors making as little as $38,000 a year, records show.

BROOKLYN, NY — Dozens of affordable apartments for seniors are up for grabs near Bed-Stuy, according to city records.
The new senior housing complex — found on Scholes Street between Leonard and Lorimer streets — has hit the city's affordable housing lottery for those 62 years and older, according to the listing.
The complex has 44 studio apartments available, each costing $1,041 per month.

Each apartment will go to those making 60 percent of the area median income, or between $38,263 and $56,040 per year. The income range will extend to $64,080 if a household of two people are applying to live in the apartment, records show.
At least one person in the household must meet the age requirements.

The Scholes Senior Housing includes bike storage lockers, a shared laundry room, a community center, outdoor areas, a recreation room and an elevator, the listing shows.
Potential tenants have until June 20 to apply, the listing shows.
The senior complex is one of several in Brooklyn currently on the affordable housing lottery.
Other buildings include a Lenox Road complex, a massive development in Greenpoint, a Kent Avenue complex in Williamsburg, the Vital Brookdale complex in Brownsville and an East New York property known as Chestnut Commons.
