'Affordable' Bed-Stuy Units Have Near $100K Income Requirement

A single person who wants one of these "affordable" Bed-Stuy apartments must earn between $69,000 and $97,000 a year, records show.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — Three new one-bedroom apartments to hit the city's "affordable" housing lotto Wednesday cost nearly $2,000 a month.

The newly constructed units at 846 Quincy St. are available through NYC Housing Connect, but only to people earning 130 percent of the Area Median Income, the listing shows.

That means a single person must bring in between $68,538 and $97,110 to apply for the $1,999-a-month one-bedroom.

And a couple must bring in between $68,538 and $111,020 a year to qualify.

Amenities in the four-story, seven-apartment building include an in-unit washer-dryer, a stainless steel dishwasher and split air conditioning, the listing and Department of Building records show.

Apartments above the first floor come with a balcony.

New Yorkers who qualify have until July 25 to apply.
