'Affordable' Brooklyn Apartments Require $79K Salary
The Johnson Avenue building hit the city's affordable housing lottery last week.

BROOKLYN, NY — More than a dozen apartments have hit the affordable housing lottery near the Bed-Stuy border, but only for those making at least $78,686 per year, records show.
The 173 Johnson Ave. building in Williamsburg has 16 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom spots up for grabs, according to the listing.
The building includes a shared laundry room, a gym, a yoga and dance studio, a business center and a rooftop terrace.

Applicants should make 130 percent of the area median income, meaning for the studio spots a $78,686 minimum salary is required, records show. For the one-bedroom spots, applicants need to make $85,372 per year. A combined $101,143 salary for the two-bedroom spot is required, according to the listing.
The apartments will cost $2,295 per month for the studio, $2,490 per month for the one bedroom and $2,950 for the two bedroom.

The Johnson Avenue building is one of several in Brooklyn currently on the affordable housing lottery.
Other buildings include a Lenox Road complex, a massive development in Greenpoint, a Kent Avenue complex in Williamsburg, the Vital Brookdale complex in Brownsville and an East New York property known as Chestnut Commons.
