Bed-Stuy Election Guide: What To Know For June 28's Assembly Races
Democratic primaries for assembly seats across New York City are next week. Here's what to know about the races in Bed-Stuy.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN —Voters in Bed-Stuy will get the chance to choose their assembly candidates next week.
The Democratic Primary is set to kick off on June 28 across New York City, including in newly-drawn districts that include the two neighborhoods. Bed-Stuy spans districts 55, 56 and 57.
Voters can use this tool to see which assembly district they live in and where to vote. A map of all the new district boundaries can be found on this site.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Early voting is also available until Sunday, June 26.
The assembly races will be the only primaries held on June 28 given an ongoing court battle over redistricting maps. Both the congressional and state senate races in New York have been postponed to August 23 due to the redistricting.

Here's a look at who is running in each of Bed-Stuy's district:
District 55
This district includes an eastern portion of Bed-Stuy as well as parts of Crown Heights and Brownsville.
- Latrice Walker: Walker has been in office since 2015 in the 55th District.
- Tracey Cashaw: Patch could not find any campaign website for Cashaw.
District 56
This district includes the majority of the neighborhood, stretching between Howard and Nostrand avenues.
- Assembly Member Stefani Zinerman (unopposed)
District 57
This district includes the western edge of Bed-Stuy as well as parts of Fort Greene, Clinton Hill and Crown Heights.
- Phara Souffrant Forrest: Forrest has been in office since 2021 in the 57th District.
- Olanike Alabi: Alabi has worked in New York City Council, a district manager of Community Board 2, various healthcare unions and in the Department of Environmental Protection.
