Brooklyn 'Affordable' Apartments Require $83K Salary

The Quincy Street building, found on the Bed-Stuy and Clinton Hill border, has 13 apartments up for grabs, records show.

BROOKLYN, NY — A new apartment building on the Bed-Stuy border has affordable units up for grabs, but only for those that make at least $83,000 per year, records show.

The building, found on Quincy Street near Classon Avenue, has 13 studio, one and two bedroom spots available for those making at least 130 percent of the area median income.

For the studio spots, that means applicants should make at least $83,349. Rent comes in at $2,431 per month for the studio units, according to the listing on the Department of Housing Preservation and Development lottery page.

The one-bedroom spots will go to those making at least $88,869 per year and will cost $2,592 per month.

The two-bedroom units cost $3,090 per month and require a combined salary of at least $105,943. At least two people are required to apply for the two-bedroom option.

The Quincy Street building includes an elevator, on-site gym, rooftop, lobby, bike storage and laundry in each unit, according to the l listing.

The 13 apartments will be on the affordable housing lottery until a Sept. 2 deadline.

The building joins several others in Brooklyn on the lottery, including more than 200 apartmentsin Caton Flats, which was built at the former Flatbush Caton Market property on the Flatbush and Prospect Lefferts Gardens border.

Those apartments will go to those making as little as $22,000 per year.
