Developer Plans 54-Unit Building In Bed-Stuy: Report
City officials preliminarily approved plans to transform a Brooklyn manufacturing building into a mixed-use project with 54 units.

BED-STUY, NY — Rezoning approval brought a proposed 8-story mixed-use building closer to development in Bed-Stuy, TheRealDeal reported.
The proposed 54-unit building will sit on Myrtle Avenue near Spencer Street and include 18 low-income units, city records show.
City Council zoning and land use officials made tweaks before approving the rezoning proposal, including securing a portion of the units for locals making under 60 and 40 percent of the area median income, TheRealDeal reported.

“The 703 Myrtle rezoning will bring much-needed housing to Bed-Stuy,” City Council Member Lincoln Restler said in a statement to TheRealDeal. “Our office worked productively with the development team to ensure this rezoning best meets the needs of the community, from expanding unit sizes to accommodate more two- and three-bedroom apartments to securing additional green infrastructure to help mitigate flooding.”
The property was expected to be 48,224 square feet, meaning apartments would each sit just under 900 square feet. The property would include bike and vehicle parking, terraces and balconies, city records show.

Developers were also working on two other housing developments on the block — collectively, the three properties will create over 200 rental units, TheRealDeal reported.
Elsewhere in Bed-Stuy, developers filed plans to convert a single-family home on Jefferson Avenue into a four-story, eight-unit building.
And on DeKalb Avenue and Fulton Street, work started on a three-building development totaling 85 affordable units.
