L Train Rider in NY Giants Gear Punches Woman, Steals Her Phone: NYPD
The alleged robbery occurred earlier this month on an L Train platform in Brownsville.

BROWNSVILLE, BROOKLYN — Police are looking for a man (pictured above) believed to have assaulted and robbed a young woman on the Livonia Avenue L Train platform on March 4.
According to the NYPD, the suspect approached the 22-year-old woman just after 8 a.m. and "proceeded to threatened the victim's life" if she didn’t turn over her cellphone.

The two individuals fought, police said. The suspect allegedly punched the woman in the head, stole her phone and fled.
The victim was not taken to the hospital, according to the NYPD.

Detectives said they believe the suspect is about 30 years old. He was last seen wearing a New York Giants jacket, they said.

The NYPD runs a free program known as Operation ID that lets residents register their electronic devices with the department. That way, if cops recover a phone or another valuable item after it is stolen, they can return it to its rightful owner.
The alleged assault and robbery described above occurred in the NYPD's 75th precinct. According to police statistics, through March 20, major crimes were collectively down about 4 percent in the area compared to the same period last year. That includes a nearly 15 percent drop in robberies: 121 incidents compared to 142 last year. However, assaults have increased from 155 incidents last year to 158 this year.
