On May 17, 2012, New York City will hold its Annual Lien Sale.

A lien is a legal claim against real property for unpaid property taxes, water, sewer or other property charges, as well as the interest due on these taxes and charges. If you have received a lien sale notice, or if the property was on a published lien sale list, City records showed that you have this kind of debt.

To prevent the sale of a lien on your property, you must pay the debt or enter into a payment agreement by May 17, 2012. No down payment is required for a payment agreement.
