Man Charged In Fatal Bed-Stuy Apartment Shooting, Cops Say

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A man has been charged with murder in the daytime Bed-Stuy shooting that claimed the life of a young woman last month, according to police.
Jose Romero, 47, was charged over the weekend, several weeks after police found 19-year-old Briana Zaret fatally shot inside a second-floor apartment on Pulaski Street, police said.
A 63-year-old man who lives in the apartment was also shot and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, according to police and reports.

Zaret, from Forest Hills, had been visiting the 63-year-old tenant when she was shot, according to the outlet.
The news of the charges comes after Romero was first taken into custody the day of the shooting, The Daily News reported.

The 47-year-old, who is from Queens, is facing murder, attempted murder, assault and two weapons charges, police said.
