Nearly 200 Unit Affordable Housing Building Opens In Bed-Stuy

Many of the units in the new building are for those with very low incomes.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A new 14-story building with nearly 200 units of affordable housing has just entered the NYC Housing Lottery.

And many of the units — 42 of the 199 — are eligible for those making under $40,320.

Five of those units are three-bedroom apartments, with an income requirement floor of $28,149.

All this new housing is a product of the city's Extremely Low and Low-Income Affordability program at the NYC Housing Development Corporation and the Department of Housing Preservation and Development.

The building features a varied mix of unit sizes, with 32 three-bedrooms, 53 two-bedrooms, 64 one-bedrooms and 40 studios.

Units feature quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, VRF heating and cooling systems, a community room, a shared laundry room and a landscaped roof with views of Manhattan.

The building is new construction on a formerly empty lot on Atlantic Avenue between Prescott and Bancroft Places and is about a six minute walk to the C train at Ralph Avenue.

Across Atlantic Avenue sits South Pacific Playground, which received updates to the grounds and facilities in 2015 under former Mayor Bill de Blasio. Nearby parks also include Weeksville Playground, Jackie Robinson Park Playground and Fulton Park.

Lottery is open until Jan. 4, 2023.
