BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — There's a catch to the city's latest affordable housing lottery listing in Stuyvesant Heights — it's only open to households earning nearly twice the neighborhood's typical yearly income of $36,000.

Two newly-constructed apartments in a humble Howard Avenue building are up for grabs starting Friday, a listing states. They both offer in-unit washers and dryers and easy access to the A and C trains, it states.

But the income requirements for a draw on the lottery may not be so convenient for many would-be applicants who share the building's 11233 zip code. It's an area where most people earn less — sometimes far less — than $68,572 a year minimum required in the listing.

The typical income in the neighborhood is $36,009, according to U.S. Census data.

And the maximum household income to qualify for the one-bedroom and two-bedroom offerings top out far above that.

The one-bedroom is open to three-person households making up to $124,930 a year, the listing states.

A five-person household can earn up to $149,890 and still apply for the two-bedroom, according to the listing.

Rent for the one-bedroom is $2,000 a month and its two-bedroom companion is $2,300.

The application period closes March 27. More information can be found here.
