Police Blotter: A Robbery at Gunpoint and Two Shootings

A weekly roundup of crime activity in the 81st precinct

The 81st Precinct experienced a 13 percent increase in crime for the week of March 28 - April 3 (26 incidents vs. 23 incidents), compared to this same time last year. The precinct experienced a 15 percent increase increase for the month (99 incidents vs. 86 incidents), compared to this same time last year.

Monday April 11, at apprixmatly 8:00 pm, two males entered the Metro PCS cell phone store, located at 1137 Myrtle Avenue and proceeded to rob the store at gun point. One of the workers were injured with a stun gun. The perpetrators made away with an undisclosed amount of cash. The investigation is ongoing.

Sunday, April 10, at approximately 1:45 pm, two males were shot at the corner of Stuyvesant and Greene Avenues. One victim was shot in the left foot, and the other victim was shot in the left torso, after engaging in a dispute with a third party. Their injuries are not considered life threatening at this time.   

Saturday, April 9, at approximately 12:15 am, a male was shot at Troy Avenue and Herkimer Street. The victim reportedly walked to Interfaith Hospital and checked himself into the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
