Police Blotter: Two Women Robbed While Walking Into Their Apartments

A weekly roundup of crime activity in the 79th Precinct

Crime is up 91 percent this week in the 79th Precinct (42 incidents, versus 22 incidents) for the week of December 5 – December 11, compared to this same time last year. For the month, crime is up 28 percent (156 incidents, versus 122 incidents), compared to this same 28-day period in 2010. Year-to-date, crime is up 1 percent (1,765 incidents, versus 1,764 incidents), compared to this same time period in 2010.

Three Robberies:

On Monday, December 12, at approximately 12:40am, a man was robbed while making a Chinese food delivery. According to the reports, the man was delivering Chinese food to 760 Park Ave when a male grabbed his money and punched him. Responding police officers conducted a canvass and placed a 20-year-old suspect under arrest and charged him with robbery.

On Thursday, December 15, at approximately 7:50pm, a woman was robbed on her way into her apartment. According to police reports, the victim was walking into her apartment building at 197 Spencer Street when she was approached on a bicycle by a man described as a black male with a scarf covering his face. The perpetrator threatened her with a gun and demanded her bag and Kindle E-reader, then fled in an unknown direction. The woman was not physically harmed. Police are still looking for the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.

On Saturday, December 17, at approximately 7:30pm, a woman was robbed on her way into her apartment. According to police reports, the victim was entering her apartment building at 202 Clifton Place when a man pretending to be deliveryman followed her into the building, displayed a silver firearm and removed her bag and phone. The man was described as a black male with a scarf covering his face. The woman was not physically harmed. Police are still looking for the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
