Proposed Bed-Stuy Development Will Have 8 Units, 1 New Floor
The Brooklyn building's owner plans to add a new floor and five additional units to the property, property records show.

BED-STUY, NY — Owners plan to build an extra floor on a Bed-Stuy apartment building, creating space for eight units rather than three, property records show.
Plans filed this week with the city's Building's department, first reported by New York YIMBY, show owner Joseph Aghelian plans to raise the height of the building on Herkimer Street near Kingston Avenue to 45 feet.
The building would be the taller than its immediate neighbors by over 10 feet.

The existing property has three residential units over three floors. The remodel will include eight dwelling units totaling 4,765 square feet over four floors, property records show.
Alterations will also include work to the building's facade — all together, remodeling will cost Aghelian about $644,065.

Aghelian bought the property in August, 2021 for about $1.2 million. According to Bklyner, Aghelian landed on the 2019 list of New York City's worst landlords at spot 96 out of 100.
