Rats In Bed-Stuy NYCHA Apartment Terrorize Tenant: Report
The tenant says she overwhelmed daily with rats, and despite 20 visits from exterminators, she says they're still a daily horror.

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A Bed-Stuy woman says that the rats have taken over her kitchen, and that nobody has been able to help her, according to a report.
Tenant Christine Lowery says that her apartment inside a Bed-Stuy NYCHA building has always had a rat problem, but in recent months it's gotten overwhelming, according to a News 12 report.
Lowery says seeing rats in her unit is part of her daily routine, and that she can't even enter her own kitchen because of how bad it's gotten.

"They removed my refrigerator and there was a big giant rat, smushed. All the guts splattered out. That's when they said my apartment is infested with rats but, what are you doing to help me?" Lowery told News 12.
She said that exterminators have visited 20 times, but the rats remain, possibly due to a giant hole outside that she thinks could be the rat's entryway to her building, Lowery told News 12.

A NYCHA spokesperson told News 12 that "NYCHA Pest Management staff have visited this apartment on several occasions in an attempt to mitigate the resident's rodent concerns. We will continue to work with the resident until this issue has been resolved."
"This is my home," Lowery told News 12, "this is where I am supposed to feel confortable and safe — and I can't even eat here."
