Traditionally, this cultural and religious holiday (observed on 17 March), celebrating the arrival of Christianity in Ireland generally is practiced by the attendance of church services, wearing green attire and the lifting of Lenten restrictions on eating, and drinking alcohol.

Well, the last part – the lifting of alcohol drinking – seems to be the trademark way to revel on this day.
