If there is one type of business Brooklyn will never be short of, it is the nail salon business. Throw a rock in any direction, and chances are, you’ll hit at least one.
Obviously, nail salons thrive because there is a huge demand. But with so many local options, usually, it is one of two factors that informs which one(s) you choose: the one with the lowest prices or the one with the best customer service.
At Simply Polished Nail Salon, located at 452 Lafayette Avenue (right next to Dough), you get the best of both, according to the salon’s owner, Kelly Lam.

“Our prices and our customer service make us very competitive,” whispered Lam.
She speaks in low whispers to not disturb her customers. In fact, the salon is very tranquil, with the only noticible noises being the sound of a Bebel Gilberto song turned down very low and the soft splashing of water in one of the pedicure tubs.

Although the space is smaller than most salons (there are only three nail stations), it is cozy, cute and feng shui-ed to near perfection.
The shop feels high-end. But here’s the rub: The price of a manicure is $7!
A pedicure is $15, and a combined manicure/pedicure is $20.
“This is our promotional price to attract customers, but it’s going to be adjusted probably by spring,” said Lam.
Simply Polished uses o.p.i and Essie nail polish, as well as Gelish and CND Shellac for gel polishes, which Lam says is the trend right now because it stays on the nails for up to three weeks with no chipping, a high gloss and no drying time. The gel polish manicure is $25.
If customer service and a tranquil environment is your thing, this store seems to have it as well. The ambiance is soothing and quite-- ideal for catching up on a little reading.
“The space is beautiful and relaxing, the staff is very friendly, it’s great,” said Raquel Rodriguez, who was getting a pedicure. “It’s a great addition to the neighborhood.”
“This isn’t a 30-minute manicure/pedicure. Give us an hour,” said Lam. “We give thorough service.”
Simply Polished also offers acrylic sets, silk wraps, crystal tip sets, body waxing (Brazilian waxes start at $40). Also, a masseuse is available by request on weekends ($40 for 30-minute neck and shoulders; $70 for one-hour full body).
To book an appointment, call 718-398-8882, and ask for Kelly. But again, these prices may change in a few months. So hurry.
