The Westchester County Office of Drug Abuse Prevention and STOP-DWI is recognizing two Bedford Police officers for their efforts in diminishing the number of drugged and drunken drivers on the road in 2012.
Jonathan Evans and Richard O’Connell will receive their awards next month at the STOP-DWI New York Mid-Hudson Region Enforcement/Prosecution Conference.
"Every occasion in which an officer arrests and removes an intoxicated driver from the road translates into lives saved," Police Chief William Hayes said, adding that protecting motorists on the town’s roadways is a "top priority" for the department. "These officers are community heroes working hard to save innocent lives and I’m proud of them.”
