Cooking and Comedy Classes Start Soon

And check out this YouTube video of the John Jay HS vocal jazz group, which placed last weekend at the Berklee High School Jazz competition.

1. Registration starts tomorrow for cooking classes at Rainbeau Ridge

Seven "Cooking Classes In Lisa's Kitchen" will be offered this spring, and they often sell out. You can go online Wednesday at 8 a.m. to register for one (or all seven!) All classes run from 9:30-11:30am at the farm and are $85.  You can find more information and a link to their website on the listing.

2. Discuss books!

We love to highlight the book groups offered by local libraries. The   offers several gradeschoolers through adults. Coming up, grades 2nd & 3rd meet on Mon. March 19th, 6:30 p.m. and will talk about
"Encyclopedia Brown - The Case of the Disgusting Sneakers," by Donald J. Sobol. Here's the upcoming selections for adults: March 21 - "The Imperfectionists" by Tom Rachman, April 11 - "The Book of Salt," by Monique Truong. Those discussions are at 8 p.m.

3.  JJHS Vocal Jazz places at Berklee High School Jazz competition

Check out the YouTube video posted with this story for a look at JJHS Vocal Jazz, which came in third place over the weekend at the Berklee High School Jazz Competition. Madeleine Leddy, along with Paige Lester and Keely Bochicchio-Sipos won three of the four Outstanding Musicianship Awards for the category. Leddy also won the Judge's Choice Award for best soloist in the group.

4. Yoga for mental wellness

We know yoga is good for the body, but these yoga classes in Katonah promise benefits to the mind, as well. Here's a description of a class that sounds rather intriguing: "This class draws on a body of work that focuses on practices to balance the brain and relieve symptoms of anxiety/depression/addiction/ADD and many other DSM diagnosis that manifest other imbalances."

5. Mr. E.'s totally awesome COMEDY Workshop!

Got a 9-11 year old that has comedic talent just waiting to be fine-tuned? Or how about one that just wants to overcome shyness? Spencer Eldridge, art teacher at is offering a spring workshop for kids to learn the art of comedy. He'll explore the history of comedy from the banana peel to the whoopie cushion and offer kids the chance to hone comedic instincts and technique. The workshop culminates in a live performance.
