7K in Jewelry Missing from Cantitoe Street Residence

Bedford police are investigating a burglary that took place at a Cantitoe Street home last week.

On Fri. Feb. 24, police responded to the residence at about 10 p.m. The homeowners reported they were away from the house between 6:50 p.m. and 10 p.m., during which time a living room window had been forced open and its lock damaged.

When the couple returned, they discovered the break-in and missing jewelry from the master bedrom, valued at approximately $7,000. The investigation is ongoing.

Bedford Man Charged with Aggravated DWI

After police stopped Todd on route I-684 at about 8 p.m., they said they detected a smell of alcohol coming from the car, and noticed he had watery, bloodshot eyes. Todd admitted to drinking vodka earlier in the day.

A computer check showed Todd had a suspension for an insurance lapse. Police performed field sobriety tests, which Todd failed. After being taken to headquarters for processing, Todd submitted to a chemical test which revealed he had a .19 BAC and led to the aggravated charged. He was released without bail pending a return to town court. 

Police Charge Two in Driving Arrests

Michael Martabano, 24, was arrested and charged with third-degree unlicensed operation of a car, failure to keep right and driving with an expired inspection on Feb.23 in Depot Plaza.

After police observed Martabano's car cross the double yellow lines, they stopped the Bedford Hills resident and questioned him. A computer check showed that he failed to answer a Yonkers summons for and had a suspended license. He was released on $60 bail and is due back in court next week.

On Feb. 24, Simon John Oram was arrested and charged with third degree unlicensed operation of a car and speeding. Police stopped the 40 year old Mt. Kisco resident around 9 a.m. after observing Oram driving 52 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone on Bedford Road near Shady Brook Lane. A computer check showed that Oram had failed to pay child support and had a suspended license. He was released without bail pending a return to town court.
