It feels like the weekend—the main roads are busy, kids lined up for afternoon matinees at the Bedford Playhouse and shoppers and diners are filling local restaurants and stores.

Driving along residential streets is another story.

On Springhurst Road in Bedford, A NYSEG crewman was untangling electrical lines by hand. Cottage Terrace in Bedford Hills was completely closed, littered with tree branches and debris from the storm. A thick power line lay across a lonely stretch of Guard Hill Road, draped across a stone wall.
