If you are on Facebook or Twitter then you have read about KONY 2012 . It's a half-hour documentary, backed by an organization called Invisible Children, an advocacy organization dedicated to ending child slavery in Central Africa. There's a social media campaign that's betting on the power of viral media to reach a global audience to inform the world about on Joseph Kony, a warlord in Uganda responsible for the enslavement of more than 30,000 children. And that campaign has apparently reached this area—I got a flyer in my mailbox yesterday about it and heard about group of JJHS students who are planning an awareness event for April 20 in Katonah. Stay tuned as we follow how locals are getting involved in this growing movement.
