Updated: Bedford Hills FD, Con Ed Investigate Gas Leak on Green Lane

Officials are on the scene and have blocked off a section of the parking lot at the Bedford Green shopping plaza.

Updated, 2 p.m.

A construction worker driving a backhoe on the property at 132 Green Lane struck a natural gas service line going into the building, which caused a gas leak, Bedford Hills Fire Chief Dominick Bueti said Tuesday afternoon.

The initial call came in shortly after 10 a.m. After employees of businesses were evacuated, the fire department entered the building to determine if gas levels were unsafe, Bueti said. Fire officials kept the area clear of traffic until Con Ed workers arrived to shut off the line and make repairs.
