Bedford Man Charged With Drug Possession and Forgery

Michael Wolstencroft of Bedford was arrested Thursday by Carmel Police officers after allegedly trying to buy prescription drugs with a forged prescription, according to the Carmel Police Department.

Carmel officers Michel Sheil and Thomas Johanson along with Sgt. John Dearman responded to the CVS Pharmacy on East Lake Blvd. in Carmel at 5:20 p.m. 

After Wolstencroft, 29, presented a prescription, the pharmacist contacted the prescribing doctor, who confirmed that the name listed on the prescription was not a patient of hers and the prescription was one she had not authorized.

The officers arrested Wolstencroft and allegedly found additional prescriptions and 31 Xanax pills in his car.

Wolstencroft was charged with two counts of second degree forgery, two counts of possession of a forged instrument, seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance and attempted seventh degree possession of a controlled substance. He was arraigned and remanded to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Carmel Town Court on Jan. 9.
