Bedford Police: Assault Leads to Broken Nose, Facial Cuts

The 21-year-old victim was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital.

A 33-year-old Chappaqua man is facing a misdemeanor charge of third-degree assault after an incident at a Bedford residence, officials say.

Officers with the Bedford Police Department arrested Roy Meares at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday. He is accused of attempting to choke a female acquaintance, and then throwing her to the ground and banging her head on the floor.

The 21-year-old victim—who was transported by to Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco—sustained a broken nose and cuts to the face.

Meares was arraigned before Judge Erik P. Jacobsen and sent to Westchester County Jail on $2,500 bail. He will be due in Bedford Justice Court at a later date.
