California Couple Commends Katonah PO for Service

Marty Feldman gives credit to Joe Bavosa and Mike Minello for a job well done.

Patch was recently contacted by Cathy and Marty Feldman, of Los Gatos, CA, who wanted to recognize the above-and-beyond service they said they received from the staff at the Katonah post office.

Postmaster Joe Bavosa and Mike Minello, letter carrier, helped the grandparents by tracking down an unaddressed package in time for delivery to their granddaughter in time for her fifth birthday.

Marty Feldman was so impressed with their service, he wrote a letter to the postmaster in White Plains and sent a copy to Patch to ensure the staff was publicly recognized for their work. Here it is in full:

Dear Postmaster Richard Ferrari,

A special shout out for Postmaster Joe Bavosa and Mike Minello who came through big time for us when my wife realized that she neglected to put a proper mailing address on a package she was shipping to our granddaughter for her fifth birthday.

Our local post office in Los Gatos, CA, said that there was nothing they could do and that we'd just have to wait until the package was returned to us for a proper address. I then contacted the Katonah USPS branch office directly by phone and fax letter wherein I literally pleaded for their help to ensure we didn't blow it on our grandaughter's special day.

We were told that they would do the best they could, but could make no guarantees that they'd be able to intercept the package before it was returned to California.  Well—not only did Joe and his crew take care of business in a timely manner, but Joe even emailed us to confirm that the package had made it to our granddaughter in time for her birthday celebration.

Joe and his team in Katonah helped make one little girl's fifth birthday a truly special occasion, so we want to make the community aware that they went the extra mile when called upon to do so. They set a great example for why the USPS is such a great operation that deserves a lot better than the bad press disseminated by the people who don't have anything good to say about anything our public servants do for us.

Long live the USPS!

Happy Holidays to all,

Cathy & Marty Feldman
