Checkpoints Lead to DWI, Drug Arrests in Bedford
Two drivers facing drunken driving charges are due in court April 18.

Four sobriety checkpoints run by members of the Bedford Police Department (BPD), the State Police and Westchester County Police led to four arrests—including the drug charges a Croton couple faces—this weekend, officials say.
Here are the details of the arrests made by BPD officers:
- Armonk resident Maribel Herrera, 29, is facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated. Herrera, who was driving a 2005 Prius, was arrested at about 1:05 a.m. Saturday at a checkpoint near the intersection of South Bedford Road and McLain Road. Officials noticed the smell of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, and asked her to perform field sobriety tests, which she failed, according to Lt. Jeffrey Dickan. Herrera refused to submit to a chemical test. She posted $150 station bail and was released pending an April 18 appearance in Bedford Justice Court.
- Granite Springs resident Christine C. Mink, 52, is also facing a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated. She was arrested at about 1:15 a.m. Saturday at a checkpoint on Route 117 after police noticed a "strong smell of alcoholic beverage" on her breath, as well as glassy eyes, Dickan said. Mink, who was operating a 2007 Volvo, failed field sobriety tests and refused a pre-screen breath test. She was released after posting $150 station bail, and is due in Bedford Justice Court April 18.
