Fair & Affordable Apartment Lottery Opens For Bedford Rental Units

TOWN OF BEDFORD, NY — Yet another new chance for renters to combat the affordable housing crisis is here for a lucky few.

The Housing Action Council announced that Valley Cottage Apartments, in the hamlet of Katonah located in the Town of Bedford, will have 12 affordable one-bedroom apartments for rent. The site is owned by Blue Mountain Valley Road LLC, an affiliate of the Blue Mountain Housing Development Corp., a non-profit organization in Bedford.

The monthly rental price will be $1,524, with heat and hot water included. There are currently two apartments available, and a waitlist is being compiled for when more apartments become available.

The apartments are offered to those at or below 65 percent of the Westchester County area median income based on household size.

In order to qualify, a one-person household can have a maximum income of $71,078; a two-person household can have a maximum of $81,218; and a three-person household can have a maximum of $91,390.

Valley Cottage Apartments are located in four buildings at 123 Valley Road, within walking distance to the Metro-North station and downtown Katonah with stores and restaurants. The Bee-Line Bus #19 runs nearby with stops between the Katonah train station and the Ossining train station, including stops in Mount Kisco.

The apartments are zoned to the Katonah-Lewisboro School District.
