'Hammerstein's Broadway' to Benefit Katonah Museum of Art
The Nov. 20 musical celebration focuses on the music of Oscar 'Andy' Hammerstein and will be hosted by South Salem resident, Andy Hammerstein.

On Nov. 20, the Katonah Museum of Art presents a musical celebration and dinner at the Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown that features some of the best-loved Broadway musicals in history.
"Hammerstein's Broadway," an extension of sorts of the KMA exhibition New York, New York! The 20th Century, will include award-winning music from such Broadway shows as The Sound of Music, Carousel, Oklahoma!, South Pacific, The King and I, and Show Boat, written by Oscar Hammerstein, II, the great American lyricist and librettist.
The evening will be hosted by Oscar Hammerstein's great-great grandson, , a South Salem resident and artist in his own right. He spent more than three decades studying and preserving his family's contributions to the American musical theatre scene and will share stories and read excerpts from his latest book, The Hammerstein’s: A Musical Theater Family.

Under the musical direction of Sue Anderson (Pirates of Penzance, Me and My Girl, and Cats) the evening will also include the songs of Oscar Hammerstein, II performed by a five of today’s leading Broadway stars: Christine Andreas, Tony Award nominee Alan Campbell, Cris Groenendaal, Lauren Kennedy, and Craig Schulman. The event also includes supper catered by Abigail Kirsch followed by live performances of the maestro’s music.
