1. What's open and closed today
Open: most retail stores and grocery stores and gas stations we checked with. Call individual locations for details on hours. Closed: banks and government offices and schools. Local events include the Antioch Baptist Church 26th Annual educational seminar, beginning at 8 a.m. Check our for other MLK, Jr. related events.
2. Ice skating at The Harvey School

The Town of Bedford and l opens up the Harvey Ice Rink to the community for open skate. Go for casual family skating, a D.J., hot chocolate. The cost is $5 an hour - and the session is from 12:45 pm. - 2:45 p.m.

Are you getting ready to send your preschooler up to the big-time? The Katonah-Lewisboro School District is hosting a panel discussion for pre-school and incoming kindergarten parents, to provide them with all the information they need to prepare kids for beginning school in the district. The event, which was rescheduled due to the storm in November, will now be held on January 18, 2012, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. in the Cafetorium. 4. Field Trip to Greenwich Point Park with Bedford Audubon
Get a glimpse of seabirds, loons, and sparrows on this guided hike where long-eared and Northern Saw-whet Owls, siskins, and crossbills may also be present. Depart Bylane Farm, 35 Todd Road, Katonah at 9 am, or meet at Greenwich Point at the first parking lot as you enter the park at 10 am. Level of difficulty: Easy. Bring lunch.
