Hot Chili, Cold Beer, Great Art at the KCC 3rd Annual Chili Tasting

This year's tasting features a "Battle of the Brothers," pitting recipes created by Philip and Alan Eifert against one another, and music by The Thrummers.

Do you like your chili spicy? Vegetarian? Con carne? Whatever your tastes, you'll find something you'll like at the third annual Chili Tasting and New Year Celebration hosted by the to be held Tues. Jan. 31.

From 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the , chamber members, local businesses and the community are invited to taste an array of chili with trimmings, kicked off by the "Battle of the Brothers," a Chili Cook-off by Philip and Alan Eifert.

Philip Eifert, owner of the Agency, has long taken pride in his special chili recipe. His brother, Alan Eifert, however, is confident that his secret ingredient will get the judges’ attention. Additional chili will be provided and the as well as some of KCC’s talented board members.

To go with the chili, the Chamber will be serving up a selection of beers donated by Captain Lawrence Brewery and wines from And will supply mini-cupcake creations for a taste of dessert.

The mood of the evening will be casual and festive with music by sponsored by . The Thrummers, Jack Freudenheim and Emile Menasché fuse influences from Africa and the Middle East, Celtic music, bluesy Americana, jazz and pop into original compositions. Freudenheim hails from Katonah, Menasche from Mahopac. 

While the Thrummers play music in the background there will be lots of mingling with old and new friends, neighbors and colleagues. The Katonah Museum has generously offered up their wonderful space and new exhibition for the event. Attendees will have the opportunity to be among the first to view KMA’s brand new exhibition, .

“The chili will be hot and the beer cold but most of all it will be a fun evening out with friends and neighbors from downtown and next door. This event is a real collaborative effort by the business community and the non-profit community," said Edris Scherer, co-president of the chamber.

The Chamber and Allstate have co-sponsored the event and food, while the Katonah Museum and KatonahLIVE have arranged for the venue and the music. This year’s Chili tasting is being put on with the generous support from the Allstate Insurance.

The party goes from 6:00-8:00PM. The cost is $20 per person. All attendees will be entered into a raffle for a Friends of the Katonah Chamber Membership and coupon booklet worth $200 along with other donated items.
