It's Official—Newly Elected Sworn-In at Town Hall

"I'm humbled and grateful to be supervisor of Bedford—it’s a real honor and it's not just a reflection on me, it's a reflection of our terrific town board."

That's what Lee Roberts, who has been in the position of supervisor since 2003, said after being officially sworn in by former town justice, Charlie Banks. Roberts took part in a town hall ceremony Tuesday in which five elected officials took their oaths of office and officially began their new government terms.

Each official was sworn-in then had the opportunity to address the crowd of friends, family and supporters; all said they felt Bedford's government worked because of its bi-partisan spirit.

Roberts also outlined the challenges ahead in 2012 and beyond, including addressing storm water and wastewater issues, and commented on initiatives she saw as exciting for the town, such as the energy pilot program.

County legislator Peter Harckham echoed Roberts.

“Republicans, Democrats, the election is over, and it’s time to come together to work together. We’ve got a lot of pressing issues,” he said.
