Halloween Cancelled? K-L Schools and Town of Lewisboro Advise Against Trick or Treating

Poll: What do you think about postponing the holiday this year?

After a freakish snowstorm blew through the region on Saturday, leaving thousands in Westchester without power, local kids found reason to cheer when both Bedford Central and Katonah Lewisboro school districts cancelled school on Monday.

Hours later, some of those same children were disappointed to learn their trick-or-treating festivities may be cancelled.

At 8:45 p.m. Sunday, the Katonah Lewisboro school district in conjunction with the town of Lewisboro contacted familes vial phone and email to advise them against going out on Halloween night given treacherous road conditions, unsafe power lines and power outages.

"Trick or Treat activities will be rescheduled at a future date to be determined," the email stated.

The town of Bedford as of Sunday night had not released any recommendations regarding Halloween but several roads remained closed and NYSEG reported that power restorations would be a multi-day effort.
