Matt Damon Buys An $8.5M Home In The Hudson Valley

BEDFORD, NY — If you had your heart set on buying the $8.5 million Clinton Road colonial set on over 13 acres in Bedford Hills, first put on the market in April, you're too late.

Matt Damon beat you to it, according to the New York Post.

The listing, by David Turner of Compass, describes the property as "quite simply stunning. Superb design, craftsmanship and materials reflect a discriminating attention to detail. A traditional exterior belies a casual yet elegant interior."

In addition to the 4-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom, 7,190-sq.-ft. main house, the 13.5-acre estate also includes a stream, a spring-fed pond, boardwalks, hiking trails, rope bridges, a 45' x 22' Shoreline saltwater pool, a tree house, a greenhouse, an antique barn and an all-weather tennis court.

The stone and clapboard house was built in 2004 and was renovated last year. All rooms on the main level open to covered stone terraces. The kitchen designed by Christopher Peacock features a large island. The main bedroom has an ensuite new bath, gym, coffee bar, private porch and a balcony overlooking the stream and pond.

According to the New York Post, Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, purchased the home through an LLC that shares a Santa Monica, CA address with Pearl Street Films, owned by both Damon and Ben Affleck.

The deal closed on June 9, with Mary "Muffin" Dowdle of Ginnel Real Estate representing the buyer.

Damon also made local headlines in July of last year when he endorsed his former college roommate, Clark Petschek, as the Republican candidate for Bedford Town Justice, in a video posted on social media. Despite the A-list endorsement, Petschek ultimately lost to his Democratic opponent, Jodi Kimmel.
