1. Online charity auction for Friends of Music and the Arts, Community Education Foundation
Just announced yesterday from BCSD: Compete in this online auction for goods and services that will benefit the students of the Bedford Central Schools. Among the "one-of-a-kind experiences with celebrities & notables," is lunch, Personal Lesson and 18 Holes of Golf for 2 at the Glen Arbor Country Club and lunch with Former NFLer Walter Williams at his Restaurant, Sweet Georgia Brown, in Dallas and a Culinary Workshop and Dinner Party for 8 in Your Home. Tonight the Bedford planning board meets at 8 p.m. at 425 Cherry Street. There's a full agenda of proposals to discuss before year's end. Among the discussion items are proposed changes at Katonah's and plans for a new spa at 17 Adams Street, the site of the now-closed . In addition, presentations will be made by Rippowam Cisqua, Vail Buick and Splash Car Wash. We'll have an update on what's moving forward on Wednesday.

Speaking of changes around hair salons—a new place to get your locks trimmed has opened at 25 The Parkway, former home of Chic Trends. The wrapping paper has come off the windows and owner Sharon Nitti is welcoming customers. We'll have a look inside the new salon later this week.

5. FEMA deadline Dec. 15
Westchester residents and business owners affected by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee have until Dec. 15 to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency for possible disaster assistance, according to county officials. Registering with FEMA is necessary for homeowners and business owners who may be seeking FEMA grants or low-interest loans in connection with physical damages caused by the August hurricane and the tropical storm that arrived several weeks later in September. For more information and to register, call the FEMA Helpline at (800) 621-3362. Phone lines are open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week until further notice.
