Voter's Guide for 2011 Elections

Here's your guide to the races, candidates and where to vote.

Tuesday is Election Day, a day to make your voice heard at the polls. For links to all of Patch's election stories including letters to the editor, endorsements and stories, visit our elections page.

The Races

Ninth Judicial District Supreme Court Justice

Fourteen-year terms on the state Supreme  Court, New York’s highest trial court,
will go to the winners among Edward Borrelli, Robert DiBella and Paul Marx. The Westchester residents are seeking to fill two seats in the Ninth Judicial District, which also encompasses Rockland, Orange, Dutchess and Putnam counties.

County Legislator, District 2

County-wide, 17 legislative districts are up for grabs. Bedford voters have the choice between Peter Michaelis, 55, a Republican who has campaigned on breaking the Democratic supermajority on the county board of legislators, and incumbent Peter Harckham, a Democrat who has said he's running on his record of reducing the tax burden and the size of county government.

Town Board

The town board election has Luke Vander Linden, 36, a Republican, challenging Chris Burdick 60, and David Gabrielson, 58, Democrats seeking a second term on the town board. The top two vote-getters will win seats. For more information on the candidates see previous coverage here:

Town Justice

Kevin Quaranta is running unopposed for re-election. The Town of Bedford has two town judges, each elected to a four-year term. The Judges hold sessions of Criminal Court, Civil Court and Traffic Court.

Where to Vote and Check Results

The Westchester County Board of Elections will post unofficial results available here in the above races after 9 p.m. Stay with Patch throughout the day for updates from the polls including photos and voter reactions.
