Police: Man Charged with Cell Phone Use While Driving Had Open Beer in Car

Jozef Kogut, 46, of Stamford, was arrested on Dec. 10 after police observed him allegedly talking on his cell phone while he was driving with through Depot Plaza in Bedford Hills.

After they approached Kogut's car, police noticed an open can of Foster's beer near the driver's seat. They adminstered field sobriety tests, which Kogut passed. A computer check revealed his license to be suspended.

Kogut was charged with unlawful use of mobile phones, third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a car, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in a car. He was released on $200 bail pending a return to Bedford town court.

Mt. Kisco man charged with driving while impaired

Andres Mogrovejo, 25, was arrested on Dec. 10 during a two-man DWI patrol.

Bedford police observed a Honda Accord with tinted windows at 3:15 a.m. in Depot Plaza in Bedford Hills. They stopped the car and approached Mogrovejo, who was driving the car. Police said they detected a strong odor of alcohol and asked the Mt. Kisco resident if he had been drinking.

Mogrovejo admitted to consuming one beer, then failed field sobriety tests, police said. A license check showed his license to be sustpended in New York. He was taken to police headquarters where a chemical test resulted in a .05 BAC, which indicates he was impaired but not intoxicated. He wsa released on $100 bail pending a return to Bedford town court.

 

Suspended driver charged with failure to stop at a red light

Lucia Lindsay, 63, was arrested on Dec. 12 and charged with third-degree agravated unlicensed operation of a car and driving through a red light.

The Mt. Kisco resident was heading north on Route 22 when she came to a red light at the intersection at Route 35. She briefly stopped but proceedd to turn left on Rte 35 west. A computer check showed her driving privilegs to be suspended for failure to responde to previous summons. She was released on $50 bail pending a court appearance.

Man takes two bottles of malt liquor without paying

On Dec. 11, staff at the Hess Gas station at 776 Bedford Road in Bedford Hills reported that a male in his late 20s came into the mart, took two 40 ounce bottles of malt liquor and left in his car without paying. Police have no description of the vehicle.
