Firefighters Graduate, JJMS to Rock the Halls

It's 5 things you need to know Friday.

1. Rock the Halls is tonight

This concert, organized by teacher Jesse Weiss and teacher Craig Jettelson, with support from the middle school and the PTO, benefits the Killian Mansfield Foundation. The foundation works "to empower children with cancer and other serious illnesses through integrative health care."  Rock out with Jettelson and Weiss’ band, “Halfway to Sanity,” and hear vocals and instruments from 30 middle school students. Tickets are $10 and the show is at 6:30 p.m. at John Jay Middle School’s theater.

2. Bedford resident performs in college theatre

A little bit of news from the drama department at Connecticut College: Brian Kirshenbaum performed in the Theater Departments' production of "Three Sisters" in the college's Tansill Theater. Kirshenbaum, a freshman, played the part of 2nd Lt. Vladimir Rodez in the production. He's also a 2011 graduate of Fox Lane High School.

3. Photography show at Katonah Village Library

The Garden Room of the Katonah Village Library is hosting a photography show by Pleasantville Artist, Robert Uricchio. The show will is up until Dec. 28: Mon-Sat 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am-1pm. 30-40 images are on exhibit, mostly from the Hudson Valley area.

4.Congratulations, firefighters!

More than 100 firefighters from 40 volunteer fire departments in Westchester were honored at a graduation ceremony Wednesday night at the Department of Emergency Services in Valhalla. Here's the list of local graduates (if we missed someone, let me know!)
