It's so...dark. So early in the evening and so late in the morning. That's why we're celebrating the winter solstice, which arrived this morning at 12:30 a.m. The shortest day of the year will come and go and we can get on with the business of adding more light to our days. For a great explanation with a bit of humor,

4. Holiday Skating at Harvey

During next week's school vacation and other upcoming holidays, opens up the Harvey Ice Rink to the community for open skate. The dates are Dec. 27, Jan. 16, Feb. 20. Go for casual family skating, a D.J., hot chocolate.  The cost is $5 an hour - and all the sessions are from 12:45 pm. - 2:45 p.m.

5. Keep dreaming of a White Christmas

It doesn't look like we'll be getting snow in time for Christmas this year. It will be warm enough to rain on Friday, and though it will dry out for the holiday weekend, temperatures will be in the low 40s. Unless you are going to Rochester, like I am. Where it's always a little wetter and colder and grayer (but the company's great).
