Town of Bedford Meets Following Budget Work Session Tonight

The work session at 7 p.m. will be followed by a regular town board meeting starting at 8 p.m.

The town board will continue their work toward crafting a municipal budget tonight during a work session, their first since the two percent state limit on property tax increases in next year’s budget.

A public hearing scheduled for 7:45 p.m. to discuss the placement of signs has been postponed until Tues., Oct. 18 at 7:45 p.m.

The agenda for Tuesday night's meeting includes:

  •  An expected authorization for Tom Bregman, Bedford's Energy Director to accept a proposal by Simon Gruber to complete the Energize “Cash Flow Case Study Project.” 
  • An expected authorization for Lee Roberts, supervisor, to sign an inter-municipal agreement for the County Repository for Integrated Criminalistic Information, county online booking and database systems. The R.I.C.I. network allows police departments to "track persons arrested for crimes and share information including photographs, palm and fingerprint images, and pedigree information of these persons," according to the county's website.
  • A review of correspondence regarding the Bedford Village Water Storage Tank project, IT system changes in the Court Room and a request from the Katonah Museum of Art to renew Special Use Permit.

New business on the agenda includes:

  • A proclamation commending Nicholas Kristensen for attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. 
  • An expected authorization for the supervisor to sign IMA with Westchester County to obtain East of Hudson Watershed Corporation funds for Stormwater Compliance. 
  • Discussion of a proposed amendment to town code with respect to the . The code was approved Sept. 3, 2010 via a permissive referendum and currently reads:
    The special levy shall cease after five years, unless the special levy is extended by local law of the Town Board in increments of five years. The term of the special levy authorized by § 85-4B shall be extended for an additional period of five years commencing with the fiscal year of the Town beginning January 1, 2011. The special levy shall thereafter be extended in increments of five years by local law.

There will be an opportunity for public comment.
