Troopers Run Speed Detail on I-684

State Police issued 76 tickets during a recent speed enforcement detail on Interstate 684.

The initiative was run by troopers from the Somers barracks between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday. Most of the folks were cited for speeding violations, police say.

"This highway safety initiative perpetuates the mission of the State Police to reduce deaths, injuries and property damage caused by motor vehicle accidents through vehicle and traffic enforcement," officials said in a statement.

A similar detail netted 78 tickets last week.
